SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Definition: SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the set of techniques and strategies used to increase a website's visibility in the organic search results of engines like Google, Bing, and Yandex.

SEO is the practice of optimizing websites to appear in the top positions of organic search results. It involves three major pillars: technical SEO, on-page SEO, and off-page SEO.

Pillars of SEO

  • Technical SEO: site speed, Core Web Vitals, architecture, indexing, schema, mobile-first, HTTPS.
  • On-page SEO: content, keywords, meta tags, headings, internal links, user experience.
  • Off-page SEO: quality backlinks, citations, domain authority, digital presence.

SEO in 2026: integration with GEO

Modern SEO can no longer be thought of in isolation. With the arrival of AI Overviews, Perplexity, and ChatGPT Search, optimization must address both classic ranking and the ability to be cited by LLMs — making the integration between SEO and GEO mandatory.
